Do not say Madison Avenue, but the traditional advertisement is dead! I do not remember what I had for lunch half an hour ago, let alone the ads I saw when I watched American Idol, or which ads were in the In-Style Magazine version this month. If you think your customers can remember your ad because it's funny, unusual, colorful, etc., then you're a sad mistake. So if you want to get customers, you have to go back to the old way to do things: word in mouth! Fortunately, you do not have to horse your horse and ride the streets and yell "British are coming!" Because this word spreads the word of mouth through what is called "social media".

Social Media has many names and forums, including Facebook, MySpace, Linked-In, Digg and more, but not from the beginning of AOLs "You've received mail." one form of social media has taken America with such great surprise and joy as an incredibly popular program called "Twitter".

For those who do not have this new technology, Twitter is a free social utility that people use to communicate with each other in real time. It is certain, however. You can only tweet 140 characters or less.

In order to have a Twitter account, you must first set up a profile. This includes your actual name, location, website and a short 140 character bar. You also get to display "avatar" which is a small image or representation of yourself. After your profile is finished, you'll find "Find People" to follow or get "Followers" to find you. You can follow friends, family members, celebrities, brands (Zappos), politicians, companies, etc. You can find people to follow a name, ie. Brittney Spears, of interest as stated in life, ie. blogging or by location, ie Phoenix. There are numerous ways to find people to follow.

Having a "follow-up" on Twitter is a sign of popularity, and for many or "twins" more followers have better. Ellen Degenerous (@theellenshow) declared that she wanted to get up to one million followers in one day! She did not quite, but she came close. As with this writing, she has over 300,000 followers.

You can tweak from your desktop, iPhone, BlackBerry, your laptop. You can tweet on the go, at work or at school, on vacation and at a conference! With an estimated 6 million individual users and counting, it looks like "everyone" is doing it! And maybe so. Appearing some of the most popular Twitter on Twitter will come up with names like Barack Obama, Arnold Schwartzenegger, PDiddy, Martha Stewart and Real Shaquille O Neal.

Twitter is the place where news is reported first. When the pilot "Scully" landed the Hudson River aircraft in January 09, rescued him and all 155 passengers, the first movie came through TwitPic from one passenger.

The media use Twitter to get the kick. When the seven-year-old Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong (@lancearmstrong) bike was stolen, he sent a picture of it and the message on Twitter first. Later, when the wheel was found, with Twitter, Armstrong's followers were the first to know.

People quote what they're doing, where they're on, (Shaquille Oneal likes to run competitions and give away the Phoenix Suns consoles to his first "follow-up" who find him. ")

They complain about their business, their family, their lives, and what they are in their minds. However, there are some "unscheduled" rules for "the right" way to use Twitter and what's acceptable to Twitter. for example, remember that something you tweak is on the net forever and can be used against you. One guy found it difficult when he said how much he did not like a new job at a particular company.

The general idea is to be positive, tweak yourself and let people know you, but do not be too personal. Do not be negative either. If you are a negative twofold, you will find the follow-up of others. Another rule is s if you are a business, it's bad that it is complaining about business all the time and try to sell people. Nothing changes followers faster than that, unless you're at the beginning of the beginning and they know you're selling content, like Amazon.com offers today.

Yes, we, where customers want to return to the basic community: relationships. Just like Paul Revere, customers want to trade with people they know, like and trust. Furthermore, they want the people they trade to know, as well as trust them too. And Twitter has provided a platform to do it in real time. We are knowledgeable, we are cynical, our relationships and we are powerful. With Twitter you can reach all the customers you need and then some. And a good part of all this is, you do not have to spend one dime.
